A smiling Al! Non-binary, white queer person wearing a white shirt with a yellow sun on it. They are standing at the end of a massage table with a pillow on it. Behind them is framed art on the wall and a mirror.

Meet Al

Al Reed (they/them) is a licensed acupuncturist in Portland, OR, and has extensive experience in treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain through acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, and bodywork

Other focuses include: hormonal issues (everything from (peri)menopause to cycle support to side effects of HRT), fertility, holistic skin care + microneedling, postoperative care, insomnia, anxiety, grief support, and stress management

They were recognized as one of Portland’s Top Acupuncturists by Portland Monthly Magazine’s Top Doctors List for 2022

Along with being a health care provider, Al cofounded and helps organize the group Queer Health Care Provider Meet Up- an interdisciplinary group of LGBTQI2S+ health care providers focused on education and community

They are from the Midwest and have a Libra Sun and Virgo Moon. They love gardening, animals, moving through body through dance and weight training, traveling, and really tasty food.

Their approach is informed by being a white, non-binary, trans masculine, queer person. Al has a passion for serving the LQBTQI2S+ community and creating better, affirming clinical spaces for people of all identities.

Healthcare is deeply personal and has not always been a safe space for many- having an ugly history of racism, systematic oppression, and injustice. Al strives to stay accountable and do better, to honor and respect the indigenous roots of East Asian Medicine, and to incorporate social justice and health equality in the clinic space and community.

Are you accepting new patients?

Where do I find you?

I’m open and accepting new patients, and currently practicing out of Mandala Medicine & Wellness on NE 31st and Burnside right next to Laurelhurst Market.

We have easy street parking & a private lot behind the building.

The entrance has a wheel chair accessible ramp, though my office is on second floor of the building without an elevator. First floor and no stair accessibility for acupuncture treatments are available with prior notice so that we can get you the care you deserve.

I’m excited to work with you!
